FM.B.16 REACHES AND ATTAINS OBJECTS SITTING

Proceed exactly as you did for FM.B.15, but with the child in a sitting position. When you are working with a baby, a firm baby chair with good back support will be very useful, as it is easier to be facing your child when offering him a toy.

Reaching and attaining an object can also be practised with the child lying on his tummy, either over a small cushion or bearing some weight on one forearm. This combines very well with GM.A.20.

Encourage him to reach up to the side, as well as forward, to develop his shoulder muscles.
