GM.E.111 JUMPS OVER A ROPE ON THE GROUND

Now the child not only has to jump directly up, but must jump forward as well.

How to Assess

Materials: A length of rope

Method: Place the rope on the ground and ask your child to jump over it, demonstrating if necessary. Score plus if your child can jump over the rope. Her feet may not necessarily be together at this stage; she may jump with one foot in front of the other. She must bend her knees and spring forward over the rope.

How to Teach

Once your child can jump up, it is not so difficult for her to learn to jump over a rope placed on the ground.

Hold her hand at first, the see if she can do it alone. Once your child has the basic technique of bending her knees and springing without support, she will acquire forward jumping with practice.
