GM.E.130 JUMPS FORWARD OVER A ROPE, 4 CM OFF THE GROUND, FEET TOGETHER
This is an extension of the previous skill in this sequence. The child’s feet should now be working in unison and should be together rather than far apart.
How to Assess
Materials: A length of rope.
Method: Suspend the rope 4 cm off the ground. Ask your child to jump over it, demonstrating if necessary. Score plus if your child can jump forward over the rope, landing with 2 feet together.
How to Teach
Assist with your hands to start with, ensuring that your child both pushes off and lands with bent knees. Reduce your assistance gradually until your child can jump over the rope independently.
