FM.F.40 ATTEMPTS TO IMITATE SCRIBBLE
Children generally demonstrate an awareness that crayons and paper go together, and an interest in the marks created by others, before they are able to make marks themselves. So it makes sense to give your child opportunities to watch you drawing, well before he is ready to start drawing himself.
Here we see whether the child shows an awareness and interest by attempting to draw on paper.
How to Assess
Materials: Paper and a thick crayon.
Method: Demonstrate drawing on the paper and give the crayon to your child.
Score plus if your child attempts to scribble. If your child does not attempt to imitate scribble, you can teach this in conjunction with the next 2 items in this sequence.
