FM.F.90 COPIES A CIRCLE
Now your child can learn to draw a circle without watching you draw it first.
How to Assess
Materials: A crayon and paper. A card with a predrawn circle.
Method: Show the card to your child, saying ‘Here is a circle’. Give him the crayon and paper, and say ‘You draw a circle’. Hold the card where he can see it as he draws.
Score plus if your child draws a circle, with ends overlapping no more than 2 cm.
How to Teach
Run your child’s finger around the predrawn circle, saying ‘Look. It goes around . . . stop’.
Then give him a crayon, saying ‘You draw a circle’.
If your child persists in making errors, reassess imitating a circle (FM.F.89) and give a refresher course if necessary.
Playtime and Round-the-house Activities

Remembering and Extending
This sequence now introduces some different drawing skills – a relief for those who are tired of circles! But do continue to practise circles from time to time.
