FM.G.49 HELPS TURN PAGES
This item and the following 3 items are concerned with the child’s ability to turn pages. This is quite a complex skill, and it will help your child if you start very early to encourage him to participate when you turn the pages.
How to Assess
Materials: A book with stiff pages, such as a cardboard book.
Method: Read the book with your child, turning the pages slowly.
Score plus if your child uses his hands to help turn the page. He may pick up the next page, or push it down as it is turned.
How to Teach
If your child does not participate when you turn the page, teach as for the next skill in this sequence, FM.G.54 (turns pages of a cardboard book), and begin by separating the pages yourself.
