RL.G Responding to Grammatical Features
Grammatical features are sounds or words which are rarely used alone, but which extend or alter the meaning of the words or phrases in which they are used.
Most grammatical features are best taught in conjunction with expressive language, and you will find them discussed under Grammar in Book 3, Chapters 1 and 3. We include a few features in the Receptive Language Checklist of the D.S.I., not only because they must be understood before they can be used, but also because children who are not yet talking need to recognise and respond to them in the language of others.
